100 Word Challenge for grown-ups Number 2

What is the 100 word challenge for grownups (100WCGU)

This is a weekly challenge for those who are over 16 and enjoy challenging themselves with writing. Each week you are given a prompt. It may be a few connected words, a selection of individual words or a picture. You have 100 words (or the number that have been set for that week) to write a creative piece. One of the great things about the 100WCGU is how people visit other blogs and read the entries. It is all about supporting our writing and giving constructive feedback and support. For some, it is the start of longer pieces of writing, even novels!!

The prompt this week

….Is to go back to last week’s entries. You are to use the last 10 words of the post next to yours and using just 100 words create a story. It may be a follow-on from the previous one or you may like to take it in a different direction.

Here is my attempt

Would there be flat discussion about parted time? Passionate sharing of youthful memories? Would they finally, finally…

End up together… would the cruel world take mercy and allow these two lovers to be togethe

The world had conspired against them.

The two lovers parted as the guards led them away. They look longingly into each other remorseful eyes.

Why had they done it?

What had they gained?

What was the purpose?

They stared regretfully as they both turned, either could remember why, either would want to remember why.

Their life together was finished before it had begun.

  1. I really like this one Nick. It is so sad & poignant. You used the prompt really imaginatively. So glad you have joined in this. I like to see your entries on 100WCGU. It’s a shame that work during term time prevents you being a regular.

    1. Thanks again
Its good to be back, unlike the last time I will not promise to be more regular. I will try but I cannot promise. Its like you said i just wish I had the time in term time
